Who I Am

I’m a professional storyteller who tells tales that both entertain and educate. With an energetic style, I bring to life stories from the worlds of personal experience, history, nature, folklore, and myth. I have presented stories and workshops in venues such as the Manitoba Museum, the Millennium Library, the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, outdoor music festivals, coffee shops, parties, and around many campfires. I love to enchant people with the spoken word, make them laugh, open their minds, and help them learn something about the world and themselves.

My passion and expertise in storytelling derives from my exceptionally diverse life experiences in education, travel, and employment, an ability to relate and talk to people from all walks of life, and my personal study of history, folk tales, legends, and the craft of storytelling.

I’m fascinated with the practice and historical development of oral storytelling and am committed to keeping alive this ancient human tradition that is the seed of all storytelling mediums in use today. While studying the craft of story development, I discovered many useful tools, especially the hero’s journey story structure and character archetypes in fiction, and now give workshops on the use of these for both story creation and personal development.
